Organisational unit: Research Grouping
The Social Group has strengths in the study of social perception and social cognition.
Areas of research include the social perception of faces, with a particular emphasis on dynamic social cues; the processing of social information as a function of different attachment styles; and the psychological processes underlying prejudice, stereotyping, stigmatization, prosocial behaviour, and self-esteem.
Much of this work takes an evolutionary perspective, and the group has inter-disciplinary links with both biologists and anthropologists.
The Social Group is part of the Cognitive Processes research group.
