Research interests

My research interests are concerned with English/Classics literary relations c.1550-c.1830 and the reception of Augustan poetry in the long eighteenth century. My current research is primarily occupied with Dryden’s reception of Virgil, but I have worked on a variety of other authors, including Homer, Ovid, Cowley, Denham, Milton, Pope, and Byron. I am also interested in the role of allusion and imitation, particularly within epic and mock-epic poetry.
