Research interests

Liz is currently the Research Project Manager for NIHR CLAHRC West, where she oversees the portfolio of studies. Prior to this, Liz was Senior Research Associate on a large population-based cluster randomised controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of population screening (PSA testing) for prostate cancer (the CAP trial), which involves over 430,000 men in the UK. Her interests include the secondary use of medical records for research purposes, and she has also conducted research around the public's knowledge of research that uses their NHS data and their opinion of the necessity of obtaining informed consent for such research.

Having graduated from the University of Hull in 2000 with a BSc in Psychology with Anthropology, Liz began her research career in pharmaceutical trials, working for a company that provided computerised cognitive testing for participants in all stages of clinical trials, both in the UK and internationally. She also has experience of working in various roles for the NHS. Health Psychology has always interested her, and she received a Master’s degree in Health Psychology (with distinction) from the University of Bath in 2006. Liz has worked in Population Health Sciences at the Bristol Medical School Since 2006.
