Particle physics is fascinating because it attempts to relate phenomena that occur on some of the smallest scales to those phenomena that occur on very large scales. Observing events in the most advanced particle colliders may lead to an improved understanding of the early stages of our universe. Particle physics continually redefines the limits of what we are able to comprehend about our universe, which is the nature of its appeal. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is now the highest energy particle accelerator in the world. Supersymmetric particles, predicted by several leading theoretical models, should be found at the LHC if they exist, perhaps opening a window into unification of the fundamental forces. However, additional progress in a host of other interesting topics is also on the horizon, including top quark, beauty quark, charm quark, heavy ion, and neutrino physics. It is an exciting time to be a particle physicist!

As a graduate student at the University of Illinois, and as a postdoctoral researcher at both Carleton University and the University of Bristol, I have had the privilege to be involved in world-class particle physics research taking place at such excellent places as the CLEO experiment at Cornell University’s Laboratory for Elementary-Particle Physics (LEPP) and the Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

My research interests center primarily on multi-body decays of the neutral charmed mesons and the contribution of these studies to better understanding resonant states and CP violation. I am actively working on new, never-before proposed ideas to open up new avenues of research in this field.
