Abstract

Angelika Hoerle: the Comet of the Cologne Avant-Garde 1912-23 Edited by Michael Parke-Taylor, acting curator of European Art, AGO The Art Gallery of Ontario hosted the exhibition Angelika Hoerle: the Comet of the Cologne Avant-Garde 1912-23 at the AGO from May 23 to August 30, 2009. Hoerle (1899-1923) and her artist husband Heinrich Hoerle were key figures in the Dada movement in Cologne, and she created an outstanding body of work - now almost entirely housed at the AGO - from 1919 until her untimely death in 1923. The exhibition and catalogue will explore how her art fit into the artistic and political movements in Weimar, Germany. Includes essays by Angie Littlefield, Dr. Sabine Kriebel and Dr. Dorothy Rowe. Co-published with Verlag der Bucchandlung Walther König, Cologne Available in English and German
